For almost a quarter century, Our Place Cuisines of China has been the Upper East Side's favorite "Neighborhood Chinese." We have watched our customers children grow into men and women, and now bring their own children to the restaurant. On weekends and holidays, it's not uncommon to see three generations of families in the restaurant.
Our success is partially due to the continuity of the restaurant partners, a few of whom have been with the restaurant since it opened, as well as new partners, who were former employees of Our Place. The longevity manifests itself in a commitment to quality and consistency that is not only unusual for Chinese restaurant, but most restaurants in the city, regardless of the cuisine.
While New Yorkers have grown more sophisticated in their dining habits, a result of travels abroad, as well as the explosion authentic Chinese regional cooking through the City, the fact remains, there is something wholesome and comforting about the kind of New York-Style Chinese food that Our Place has prepared and served for many years.
This is not to say we don't innovate or experiment, but rather we have remained tuned to the tastes and preferences of our customers. This willingness to accommodate while growing is what defines a genuine, reliable Neighborhood Chinese, whether our customers come for classics such as Crispy Palace Prawns, Mu Shu Pork, Peking Duck or a simple weekend meal of Dim Sum.
